What is Creative Co-design? Insight from nooh Studio
Co-design is a human-centred approach to storytelling
Creative co-design is about designing with your audience, not just for them.
Ideate
At nooh studio we’re very passionate about Co-design. It’s a methodology that we’ve been using ever since we launched and it encompasses my passion for design and storytelling!
So, firstly what is Creative Co-design?
Co-design turns designing into a team effort, blending different voices and experiences to build solutions that really hit the mark.
We believe that co-design is a powerful tool for creating stronger and more impactful designs for businesses. It’s our favourite design tool and for very good reason, it helps enhance the design process and results, no matter what type of campaign it is.
Iterate
You might be wondering why does co-design even matter?
Firstly, it creates solutions that people actually want, instead of guessing what your audience wants, you bring them into the process; which means less wasted time and wrong turns.
People are more invested because they helped create it, meaning they’re excited for the launch and less resistant to change.
It helps strengthen relationships. Co-design isn’t just about the final product, it’s about trust, collaboration and building stronger connections.
Co-design also sparks creativity, by blending different voices and perspectives you end up producing more innovative and distinct ideas.
It’s also more inclusive because you’re making sure that nobody is left out of the decision making process, which leads to solutions that suit a broader range of needs.
So, how does co-design look in practice?
Co-design can take many forms. It might look like a workshop where your team and audience solve a problem together, or a co-design sprint where you develop ideas side-by-side at a fast pace, or several creative sessions to shape a brand or campaign.
The common thread is that you’re not just designing for people, you’re designing with them.
In the next newsletter I’ll go into more detail and give you the five-phase process to do a co-design sprint. It works really well for creating new products as well as improving existing ones.
