If you haven’t guessed already from the name of this newsletter (The Ideas Machine), I am full of ideas. It’s the founder syndrome, isn’t it? As a neurodivergent creative founder, the ideas come easy,
Ideate
Implementation is 33% of my strapline for The Ideas Machine, yet actually implementing anything is extremely difficult with executive dysfunction - a symptom of ADHD. Executive function is a set of cognitive processes or mental skills that include working memory, flexible thinking, and self-control.
This means, with a neurodiverse brain implementation is hard. It’s an ongoing process of reflection, adjusting, and attempting to implement all over again.
Iterate
Through trials and tribulations, I have found a few things that have helped me to implement the many, many, ideas that wiz through my brain in any one day.
VAs – virtual assistants from Wired Differently, who specialise in supporting neurodiverse people
Body doubling – with the above assistance
Two phones – one for work, one for personal
Time blocking – in a colour-coded calendar
The other answer? Consistency, an honest team, and brutal self-reflection with an aspiration to consciously keep improving.
