From stuck to solution
Why getting out of your head and onto paper might be just what you need for your next breakthrough
I’ve spoken before about how I think in pictures and how I try to visualise ideas and work related issues, today I’ll be expanding on how I solve by making my problems visual with design thinking.
Ideate
Do you find yourself lost in thought or a tailspin of anxiety? Frozen by fear or confusion and unable to make a decision forward?
Today’s quick hit TIM is how you can process, understand and start to resolve your problems all through visualising the issues is; let’s begin!
Iterate
A simple way to visualise issues is to create a mind map -that’s right, back to primary school!
Step 1 - In the centre of a page, write down the problem in as few words as possible, really sum it up to only the key components and issue.
Step 2 - How does the problem make you feel? Why? (E.g - Problem - Scared - How to afford bills?)
Step 3 - What are the possible solutions to resolving the issue? Or why is this an issue at all? (Keep it brief! Ideally to a word or very short sentence). E.g - Problem - Scared - How to afford - Save up for 2 months
Step 4 - Look at your possible solutions -are there any that are instant wins? Or feel like somewhere you could start?
Pick one and start!
It’s better to start walking to the possible sound of running water than it is to be stuck in the middle of nowhere without any water!
